General Assistant: Art & Design Location: Challney High School for Boys Contract Type: Permanent, Term time. Hours of work: 37 hours per week. The working day will start at 8:30am and finish at 4:30pm, finishing at 4pm one day a week. Salary: L2 - Actual salary starting from £21,962 per annum Closing date: 9am on Tuesday 15th September 2026 Over view of the job Challney High School for Boys is a successful and inclusive school with outstanding facilities, friendly staff and has a supportive environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a new general assistant to join our art and design department. This role is for someone who wants the opportunity to use their subject knowledge in a dynamic environment, where their drive, passion and organisational skills will be a valuable contribution. You will be preparing materials and equipment for practical sessions, supporting both teaching staff and students with demonstrations as required. Applicants for this public facing post will need to demonstrate the ability to converse, and provide effective help or advice, fluently in spoken English. Purpose of the post To provide practical assistance in the area of art and design. Full training, support and induction will be provided. In line with our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, this appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
