About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Class Teacher to join our dedicated staff team. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding practitioner who is passionate about delivering exceptional learning experiences for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As a Class Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, personalised learning opportunities that enable pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and other professionals, you will create an inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed.

We are looking for someone who:

Is passionate about securing the best outcomes for children and young people with SEND. Has high expectations and a child-centred approach to teaching and learning. Is reflective, resilient and committed to continuous professional development. Possesses excellent communication and organisational skills. Can create engaging, meaningful and motivating learning experiences. Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Experience of working with pupils with SEND is desirable, although we welcome applications from teachers who are keen to develop their specialist knowledge and skills. Why Join St John's School? St John's School provides specialist education for children and young people aged 2-19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex additional needs. Our school is a welcoming, nurturing and aspirational community where pupils are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating meaningful learning opportunities that support every child to develop confidence, independence and the skills they need for life. Our dedicated staff team works together to ensure that every pupil receives the highest quality education, care and support, enabling them to flourish and achieve their individual aspirations. About Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT) St John's School is proud to be part of Bedford Inclusive Learning and Training Trust (BILTT), a successful and growing multi-academy trust specialising in SEND education. BILTT's vision is to provide outstanding educational experiences for children and young people, ensuring every pupil can achieve their potential regardless of their starting point. The Trust is committed to supporting staff through high-quality professional development, collaboration and opportunities for career progression across its family of schools.

What We Can Offer You:

The opportunity to work with exceptional pupils who inspire us every day. A supportive, highly skilled and friendly staff team. Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development. A well-resourced specialist learning environment. Opportunities for career progression within BILTT. Membership of the Teachers' Pension Scheme. A rewarding role where no two days are the same. Part of the interview process will involve planning and teaching a lesson. Candidates invited to interview will receive further details in advance. Interviews may be conducted prior to the application end date. This post is subject to Enhanced DBS Clearance, satisfactory references, social media checks, health clearance, and a probationary period. This post is exempt from The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. CVs cannot be accepted. BILTT is committed to safeguarding, Prevent, the welfare of pupils and ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers; irrespective of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity, race, belief, sex or sexual orientation and expects staff to share that commitment.
