Job Description for Main Scale Teacher

Job Title : Main Scale Teacher / ECT (Permanent Full Time Teacher)

Purpose : To teach pupils in the 4 – 11 age range (as required) in all aspects of the statutory and the agreed school curriculum.

Responsible to : The Headteacher / Assistant Headteacher(s), Local Governing Body and the Bishop Luffa Learning Partnership

General Duties : To carry out all duties of a teacher as set out in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions document, the Professional Teachers Standards and school policies.

Responsibilities

in line with Teachers’ Standards :

1. To support and promote the school’s

ethos and philosophy for teaching and learning.

1. To ensure high standards of

teaching and learning, behaviour, attendance and punctuality from pupils and themselves, in accordance with agreed school policy and practice

1. To establish and sustain an

attractive, creative and stimulating learning environment which encourages and facilitates children’s development

1. To teach children in the Primary

age range, catering for the ability and the aptitude of all children within the class, through effective planning, preparation of lessons, marking of work and on-going assessment

1. To track pupil progress carefully

by interacting with assessment data to impact on achievement

1. To share corporate responsibility

for the safeguarding, wellbeing and discipline of all pupils by implementing agreed school policies, while ensuring consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct

1. To participate in Appraisal

objective setting and review meetings as required

1. To supervise the work and have

on-going professional dialogue with learning support assistants, students and parent helpers

1. To liaise with parents, providing

them with regular updates on their child’s learning and progress

1. To liaise with the SENCo and

outside agencies, as and when necessary

1. To lead a subject area and help

organise school wide initiatives as required

1. To accept general responsibilities

such as playtime supervision, attendance at, and the taking of assemblies

1. To attend INSET and staff meetings

to discuss and review aspects of the curriculum, school organisation, training and pastoral issues

1. To take part in directed hours

activities

15. To liaise effectively with advisory and external agencies and governors as appropriate

16. To take responsibility for improving own teaching through appropriate professional development
