Cover Supervisor opportunity in a high achieving boys grammar school set in Stroud, Gloucestershire. About the role

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll be a familiar and trusted adult who keeps learning on track when teachers are absent. You'll guide students through lessons, support them with their work, and help create a calm and focused space where everyone can learn. Does that sound like something you'd enjoy?

Key responsibilities

Guide students through pre-prepared lesson materials, answering questions and offering support Create a positive and orderly learning environment where students can focus and achieve Support students with SEND to understand tasks and meet their individual goals Use a variety of approaches to encourage good behaviour, in line with our behaviour policy Provide feedback to teachers on how students got on during the lesson Complete attendance registers and help with supervision during break times when needed We are looking for someone who You don't need to be a qualified teacher, but you should have GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or equivalent) and some background working with children or young people. Can you stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly to different subjects and age groups? We value patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with all students. If you can manage challenging situations with professionalism and care, we'd love to hear from you. Are you someone who listens, communicates clearly, and works well as part of a team? Calling all sports coaches and Physical Educators If you have a background in sports coaching or team leadership, this role is a natural fit for your skill set. Managing a classroom requires many of the same core strengths as running a pitch or a court: clear communication, high energy, structured leadership, and the ability to command respect while keeping young people engaged. As a Cover Supervisor, your experience in motivating students, driving discipline, and fostering resilience will directly translate into classroom success.
