Job description

Blackfordby St Margaret's CE Primary School is seeking a caring, flexible and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team in a unique dual-role position. This rewarding opportunity combines the responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) and Cover Supervisor, providing varied and meaningful work supporting pupils' learning and wellbeing across the school. Working afternoons only, you will: As a Learning Support Assistant (5 hours per week) Support teaching and learning activities under the direction of class teachers. Work with individual pupils and small groups to help them achieve their learning targets. Assist pupils with additional needs, including those with EHCPs and support plans. Promote pupils' social, emotional, physical and academic development. Help create an engaging, safe and inclusive learning environment. Support the preparation of learning resources and classroom displays. As a Cover Supervisor (8 hours per week) Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. Ensure pupils remain engaged in pre-planned learning activities. Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe and productive learning environment. Provide feedback to teachers on pupil engagement, progress and behaviour. Support the organisation and delivery of classroom activities across the curriculum. Use initiative to manage lessons effectively while adhering to school policies and procedures. We Are Looking For Someone Who: Has experience of working with children in a school or educational setting. Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families. Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates confidence in leading and managing groups of pupils. Has a flexible approach and can adapt to a variety of classroom situations. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Works effectively both independently and as part of a team. Holds GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent). Has a Teaching Assistant qualification, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent experience (desirable). We Can Offer: A welcoming, friendly and supportive school community.
