Job description

Key Responsibilities Provide English language support to pupils for whom English is an Additional Language, both in class and through targeted small group or one-to-one interventions. Support newly arrived pupils and their families, helping them to settle into school and providing appropriate pastoral support. Participate in the admissions process for new EAL pupils, including carrying out initial language assessments and sharing information with staff. Work closely with teachers to plan lessons and develop resources that meet the needs of EAL learners. Deliver targeted language support to develop pupils' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills across the curriculum. Monitor, assess and record pupils' progress using the school's EAL assessment framework. Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining effective communication regarding pupils' progress and wellbeing. Support colleagues in developing their understanding of the linguistic, cultural and religious backgrounds of EAL pupils. Promote positive behaviour, and encourage pupils to engage confidently in all aspects of school life.
