Early Years Educator

This role is based at Spencer Nursery School, Spencer Road, CR4 4JP.

This is an exciting chance to work in our popular nursery school, and develop your practice in a supportive, values led environment. This role is to initially work in the 0-2 years class (Ladybirds), however during your employment with us you could be placed in any of the three classes.

As an Early Years Educator you will:

Work as part of a professional nursery team to provide high-quality care and learning for children aged 0-5 (Ladybirds, Bumblebees, Fireflies). Be a key person for a named group of children, building strong relationships with children and their families, and recording and assessing progress using our learning story and tracking systems. Support daily routines and all aspects of childcare including meal times, personal care (including nappy changing), and safe play inside and outdoors in all weathers. Contribute to planning and deliver adult-led and child-initiated activities which promote children’s development, independence and curiosity. Support inclusion and SEND provision, helping to set targets and implement individual plans under the guidance of the leadership team and SENCo. Participate in the nursery’s operational life — daily housekeeping tasks, admin support (photos, displays), trips, and staff meetings. About you -

We are looking for someone who:

Has a Level 3 childcare qualification (NNEB/NVQ3 or equivalent) and recent experience with children from birth to five in a registered setting. Communicates warmly and effectively with children, families and colleagues — building respectful, trusting relationships that support children’s learning and wellbeing. Uses observation and assessment confidently to plan purposeful, inclusive activities that meet individual needs and promote progress. Understands early child development and can support babies and very young children with compassion and professionalism. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare and understands confidentiality and information-sharing practice. Is flexible, reliable and a positive team player who can contribute to a busy, dynamic nursery environment. Is willing to undertake first aid and other relevant professional development as required.

Role Information:

This role is for 18 hours per week to work from 8:00am-6:00pm Thursdays and Fridays, with an unpaid break of one hour each day. Please apply via My New Term, ensuring you use the person specification to complete your supporting statement to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the role.
