About the role

Springwood High School is seeking a Finance Assistant (with some Reception cover) to join the their finance team. Although this post is predominantly based at Springwood High School, the successful candidate could be asked to cover at other locations within the Trust so the ability to drive would be an advantage. Start Date: ASAP Salary: Grade D, Point 6 – 7 £26,847 - £27,274 pa FTE Please note that the salary will be pro rata (approx. £18,639 - £18,936) Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time plus one week) Permanent Purpose of the Job This is an administrative role and training will be given in all of the areas listed below. The aim of the position is to provide administrative support to the Finance Team and also provide some reception cover while developing the Finance knowledge and skills of the successful Applicant. Responsibilities, but not limited too: · Provide an administrative role with professionalism and accuracy. · Support with administering the school’s financial resources and ensure that records are kept in a manner which satisfies the requirements of accountability, audit and financial control. · Work flexibly to provide administrative support to Finance/Admin/Reception staff as required. · Raise orders for goods, supplies and services ensuring that they have been properly authorised and approved. · Process invoices ready for payment. · Assist with raising payments and processing BACS runs for supplier payments. · Ensure that all payments are properly authorised and approved. · Record all transactions in an accurate manner on the Trusts finance software. · Maintain all data records relating to income and expenditure. · Carry out budget reconciliation as directed. · Assist budget holders with any queries where required. · Where directed assist with month end processes. · As required accurately report on income received via the Trusts cashless payment system (Bromcom) · Monitor as directed, supplier delivery of goods, products and services and chase up any outstanding goods and services where appropriate. · Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the appropriate procedure and that the academies Financial handbook is adhered to at all times. · Carry out all ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested by the Trust Finance Manager & Head Teacher, from time-to-time. · Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young and vulnerable people at all times. Receptionist Responsibilities, but not limited too: · Answer and transfer calls to relevant staff, take messages where appropriate. · To receive and reply promptly to any telephone enquiries and other messages, dealing as appropriate with routine enquiries. · To undertake switchboard, receptionist and messenger duties within the school, ensuring that the Reception area is staffed at all times. · To ensure that visitors to the school are courteously and correctly received. · To undertake clerical and administrative duties of a routine nature which could include: o taking delivery and signing for goods, checking back goods received to orders and signing delivery notes for the Finance Department; o Assisting with the receiving of and storage of supplies and new equipment. · To keep the front office tidy at all times. · Ensure that confidentiality is observed at all times and abide by the data protection act.
