About the role

Be the reason a young person believes they can. Every child deserves to feel valued, included and capable of achieving great things. Sometimes, all it takes is one person who believes in them, encourages them and helps them discover what they can do. Could that person be you? We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated SEN and Inclusion Team at Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people, supporting them to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their potential, both in the classroom and beyond. What will you be doing? Working alongside our experienced SENCo, teachers and wider Inclusion Team, you will play an important role in ensuring that every student has the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

Your role will include:

Providing tailored support to individual students and small groups, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Helping students access learning, develop independence and celebrate their progress.

Delivering targeted interventions that build confidence, skills and achievement.

Supporting students' emotional, social and educational development.

Working closely with teachers and colleagues to create an inclusive, positive and supportive learning environment.

Building trusting relationships with students and helping them recognise their own strengths and abilities.

Who are we looking for? Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about young people and believes that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. You will be patient, approachable and encouraging, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues. You will bring good literacy and numeracy skills, strong organisational skills and an understanding of the importance of safeguarding, inclusion and confidentiality. Experience of working with children is essential, along with GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent). A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification is desirable, and we welcome applicants who are willing to work towards an appropriate qualification. You don't need to have all the answers. What matters is having the compassion, commitment and determination to help every young person find their own. Why Saint Benedict? Situated in the beautiful Darley Abbey area of Derby, Saint Benedict is the city's only Catholic secondary school, welcoming students from over 40 countries and celebrating the diversity, individuality and talents of our school community. We are particularly proud of our inclusive culture, where students are encouraged to care for and support one another, and where our dedicated SEN and Inclusion Team works to ensure that every young person feels they belong. You will be joining a supportive community of professionals who believe in working together, sharing expertise and making a meaningful difference every day. Why join St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust? As part of our family of 25 Catholic schools, you will benefit from: Excellent professional development, with access to high-quality training, CPD and opportunities to grow your career.

Genuine career progression, across our Trust and the wider family of 83 academies within the Diocese of Nottingham.

A generous pension, through the Local Government Pension Scheme, with significant employer contributions.

Support for your wellbeing, including access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7.

Nationally agreed terms and conditions, reflecting our commitment to valuing and supporting our colleagues.

A strong sense of purpose, working within a community where compassion, inclusion and service to others are at the heart of everything we do.

Ready to make a difference? If you believe that every young person deserves someone in their corner, we would love to hear from you. Come and help us turn potential into possibility, one student, one achievement and one school day at a time. To learn more about our Trust, visit www.srscmat.co.uk. Safeguarding statement St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This appointment is subject to satisfactory references, which will be requested prior to interview, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance, verification of qualifications and evidence of the right to work in the UK. Please note: The closing date may be brought forward depending on the level of interest received. We therefore encourage early applications.
