Closing date:18th September 2026 Interviews: Upon shortlisting Job Start Date:28th September 2026 (subject to the vetting process) Contract/Hours: Fixed term with view to becoming permanent Salary Type: Support Staff Salary Details: Grade C, scale is dependent upon experience Hours of Work:33.75 hours per week, 5 days per week, term time only, 8:15AM - 3:30PM Location of Role: Hook Junior School We are looking to appoint an experienced, confident, flexible and highly-motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated school team. The successful applicant will be required to join our strong, supportive team of support staff to support teaching and learning of all children of all abilities in KS2. The role will involve you teaching whole classes on occasions and supporting pupils’ learning in a range of subjects also working with individual pupils and small groups. Your support will extend into lunchtimes covering lunchtime duties. The successful candidate will have: Recent successful experience as an LSA in Key Stage 2 or working with children A passion for working with children and for teaching and learning GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) grade C or above Experience in or confidence to cover classes when necessary with any KS2 year group A clear understanding of assessment for learning in order to feedback and respond effectively to pupil learning Excellent positive behaviour management skills A positive attitude and be flexible to the demands of the role and the needs of the school The skills to work independently and with initiative The ability to form and sustain positive relationships with all children and stakeholders The ability to plan, evaluate pupils' progress and adapt lesson plans when necessary Acute self-awareness, emotional intelligence and the ability to work well as part of a team Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality In return we offer you: A welcoming school environment to work in with excellent facilities and resources Children who want to achieve, are happy, polite and give their best A supportive and friendly staff team who believe in each and every child Opportunities for professional development Hook Junior School is a 4-form entry junior school with a range of experienced and recently qualified teachers, as well as a friendly and capable support staff team.
