About Us

Wembley High Technology College is one of the highest performing schools in the country. Nationally, the achievement of our pupils is exceptional; in 2024, our Progress 8 score of +1.43 meant that our students on average achieved nearly one and a half grades higher than their peers nationally. The Inclusion Department Our SEND team supports pupils with a range of learning needs to access a rich, ambitious curriculum. As an LSA, you will work directly with pupils in lessons, deliver small-group or 1:1 intervention, and collaborate with class teachers to ensure learning is expertly adapted. You will also work with our SENDCO, Assistant SENDCOs, and Designated Safeguarding Lead, Attendance Officer and Nurse to support individual learning plans, progress reviews, and communication with families. This is an excellent role for someone passionate about education, considering a career in teaching, psychology, social work, or youth services.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning Support the delivery of a structured and ambitious curriculum across all subjects, under the direction of the class teacher. Adapt teaching and learning strategies to ensure individual students can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress. Provide targeted support to individuals and groups while promoting independence and avoiding over-reliance on adult support. Work closely with teachers and SEND specialists to identify barriers to learning and implement effective strategies from student passports to overcome them. Promote a love of learning and encourage students to take ownership of their progress. Maintain high expectations of students, encouraging ambition and hard work in pursuit of their individual goals. Support students to recognise that effort, perseverance and reflection are essential to achieving success. Cover classes in the absence of a teacher, as directed by the Leadership Group. Intervention, Assessment and Progress Plan and deliver appropriate interventions to address identified academic, social, emotional or communication needs. Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adapt strategies in response to student progress. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support, interventions, progress and outcomes. Manage and maintain relevant records, information and data to support analysis of student progress. Produce half-termly reports demonstrating the intervention strategies used and progress towards identified targets. Provide relevant information to teachers, SEND specialists and other professionals to inform assessment and future planning. Contribute to the analysis of student data and the evaluation of intervention effectiveness. Participate in whole-school self-evaluation and contribute to the continuous improvement of SEND provision. Contribute to high-quality outcomes for SEND students through close collaboration with students, parents and colleagues. SEND and Personalised Support Work closely with SEND specialists, teachers, therapists and other professionals to provide personalised support for students with SEND. Implement agreed strategies, reasonable adjustments, interventions and individual support plans. Plan and deliver targeted interventions for individuals and groups of students, as directed by the Leadership Group. Adapt approaches proactively in response to individual learning needs, taking initiative where appropriate. Wider School Responsibilities Actively supervise students before school, during break and lunch times, and after school, as directed by the Leadership Group. Participate in examination invigilation in accordance with school procedures. Support school events and wider school initiatives as required. Contribute positively to the wider life and culture of WHTC. Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the level and nature of the post, as directed by the Leadership Group. All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The postholder will follow current statutory requirements and WMAT procedures relating to health and safety. The postholder will immediately notify the College of any circumstances that may affect their eligibility to maintain the required DBS clearance.
