About the role

Are you passionate about reading, literacy and helping young people develop a lifelong love of books? John Smeaton Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Librarian to play a key role in supporting our students' learning and personal development through the effective management of our academy library. Working closely with students and staff, you will create a welcoming and inspiring environment that promotes reading for pleasure, independent learning and academic success. Potential applicants should have: GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. A passion for reading, literacy and education, with a commitment to inspiring young people to become confident readers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues. Good ICT skills and the ability to support the effective management of library resources and systems. Experience of working with young people in an educational setting and supporting their learning and development.
