Wicklewood Primary School and Nursery is a community school in the heart of the countryside. Our nursery provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 2-5, laying the foundations for a lifelong love of learning. We are a successful and happy school, combining a caring ethos with a commitment to high standards and excellent outcomes for children. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our friendly, supportive and hard-working team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences for young children in our Nursery and Extended Day Care. Purpose and Scope of the Role To work as part of our dedicated Nursery team, delivering high-quality care and engaging, play-based learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for children aged 2 to 5 years of age. You will play a vital role in helping each child reach their full potential while supporting their communication, physical development, emotional wellbeing, self-care, and social skills.

Responsibilities include:

Assist in the planning and delivery of play-based EYFS activities for individual children and small groups under the direction of the Nursery Manager. Creating and maintaining a safe, caring, inclusive, and stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors. Observe and assess children's progress, sharing this with parents and/or carers. To be 'key person' for individual children within Nursery, taking the lead on their education and care whilst in attendance. To assist with personal care and health needs, which may include: administering medication, assisting with personal care, carrying out other agreed health-related procedures in line with the schools’ policies. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, therapists, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for every child.

Requirements:

A Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification or working towards. Previous experience working with young children, in an early year setting Be warm, caring, and engaging Excellent communication and interpersonal skills An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework A commitment to continuous professional development Be passionate about supporting children’s progress and development Be committed to the school’s high standards of learning and pastoral care Enhanced DBS check
