About the role

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic practitioner ready to take the next significant step in leadership — someone who believes that reading, writing and oracy transform life chances and who applies up-to-date cognitive science to secure lasting impact. The Opportunity You will lead a Phase Team with clarity, ambition and precision, delivering high-quality teaching and effective use of resources. You will: Lead by example

Facilitate an ethos within the team which encourages staff to work collaboratively, share knowledge and understanding, celebrate achievements and accept responsibility for outcomes

Lead staff within your phase to apply a range of teaching and learning strategies, including implementing inclusive practices to ensure that all children within your designated phase achieve their potential, ensuring that any areas of concern are addressed swiftly through the provision of high quality support, coaching and mentoring

Lead learning within a designated phase by developing and implementing assessment strategies, data analysis/evaluation and appropriate intervention programmes to ensure that all children make at least good progress through the phase

Promote and implement inclusive policies and practices that encourage mutual tolerance and respect for diversity in all areas of your key stage

Ensure that positive behaviour management strategies are implemented, consistent and in-line with the school’s positive behaviour strategy

Contribute to and promote the development and application of priorities, policies and activities in order to enable the achievement of whole school aims.

You will remain a class teacher, modelling excellence and credibility every day.

The Leader We Are Seeking You will:

Be an outstanding KS2 practitioner with proven impact on outcomes

Have expert knowledge of the curriculum and effective pedagogy

Demonstrate a secure understanding of cognitive science and its practical application

Think strategically and act purposefully

Influence others through collaboration, clarity, integrity and professional trust

Show the ambition and capacity to progress into senior leadership

Previous subject leadership experience is welcome, but what matters most is drive, moral purpose and leadership potential.

We Offer

A culture of high expectations, professional trust and psychological safety

A genuinely supportive staff community where collaboration is the norm, not the exception

Senior leaders committed to coaching, mentoring and developing future aspirations

Access to Trust-wide networks, leadership development and subject communities

A clear commitment to staff wellbeing, including manageable workload expectations and time for leadership responsibilities

A leadership team that values balance, reflection and sustainable excellence

Pupils who are enthusiastic, respectful and ready to learn

If you are ready to lead a team with ambition and take a significant step towards senior leadership, we would welcome your application. Robin Hood MAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, including those within our Central Team, to share this commitment and to maintain a vigilant and safe environment across all our academies. This post is considered "regulated activity" (or involves regular access to our school sites) and is therefore subject to an Enhanced DBS check with a check of the Children’s Barred List. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity. All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. In line with the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), we will conduct an online search on all shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence process. We will discuss any information flagged during this process with the candidate during the interview stage before making a final recruitment decision.
