About the role

Care Team Member - Forest Moor School NJC Grade F (SCP 9-13) £28,153 - £30,023 FTE, Actual £24,404 - £26,025 for 37 Hours per week term time only Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Care Team Member to join our supportive team. About Us At Forest Moor School, we are dedicated to transforming lives and providing exceptional, inclusive education. As part of the Wellspring Academy Trust, we believe in removing barriers to learning and ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or challenges, has equal access to an enriching education. We are based at Menwith Hill, just outside of Harrogate and are a Key Stage 2 - 4 provision with around 96 students on role. We work in beautiful surroundings and now with a lovely building that is continuing to be refurbished to suit the needs of our students The Role: As a member of our Care Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with self regulation, enabling them to settle to learn and thrive in the classroom. Working under the guidance of teaching staff and the Care Team Leader, you will deliver targeted behaviour management strategies, pastoral support and 1:1 mentoring. You will help create a nurturing, structured environment based on therapeutic approaches, active listening and unconditional positive regard.

Key Responsibilities Pupil Support:

Develop positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

Implement individual education, behaviour, and support plans.

Provide pastoral support during crisis moments and assist pupils with self regulation strategies.

Deliver 1:1 mentoring and support re-integration into learning activities.

Teacher & Classroom Support:

Work alongside teachers to personalise activities and maintain an orderly, productive learning environment.

Record and monitor behavioural incidents, progress data and attendance records.

Maintain open, sensitive communication with parents and carers regarding student progress.

Curriculum & Interventions:

Implement agreed intervention programs, adjusting activities according to individual pupil needs.

Support the use of ICT and specialist learning resources to enhance engagement.

School & Safeguarding:

Train in and implement Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies.

Adhere to all child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunity policies.

What We Are Looking For Experience working with children of relevant age / vulnerable young people.

Experience supporting children/young people with SEN and SEMH difficulties.

Experience using strategies to help children settle to learn.

Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)

Knowledge of reasons behind behavioural difficulties and strategies to support positive behaviour.

Excellent spoken and written English skills

This means that, although experience of working in an SEMH setting would be an advantage, specialist support and training will be provided for outstanding candidates wishing to make the career fulfilling move into special education.
