School Nurse £17 per hour, 35 hours per week Term Time Only Monday - Friday 08.00 - 15.00. (30-minute lunch break to be taken either before or after the school lunchtime) We are seeking an experienced and compassionate School Nurse to cover sickness potentially up until December or until the return of the incumbent. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified nurse who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about supporting their health, wellbeing and welfare within a busy school environment. The Role As the School Nurse, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of medical care and support to our students throughout the school day. You will work closely with students, parents/carers, teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure students' health needs are appropriately managed.
Providing first aid and responding to illness and injuries during the school day.
Managing students with ongoing medical conditions and individual healthcare plans.
Administering medication in accordance with school policies and appropriate procedures.
Maintaining accurate and confidential medical records.
Liaising with families to prepare Individual Healthcare Plans for students with allergies in line with Benedicts Law Liaising with families and healthcare professionals where appropriate to support students with serious medical conditions Supporting students with their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Advising staff on students' medical needs and appropriate support.
Promoting good health and wellbeing across the school.
Responding calmly and professionally to medical emergencies.
Maintaining a safe, organised and confidential medical environment.
A Registered Nurse (RGN/RSCN) with current NMC registration.
Experienced in working with children or young people, ideally within a school or community setting.
Caring, approachable and able to build positive relationships with students.
Calm and confident when dealing with emergencies and unexpected situations.
Highly organised, reliable and able to work independently.
Able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound professional judgement.
A strong communicator who can work effectively with students, staff, parents and external healthcare professionals.
Previous experience as a school nurse would be advantageous, although nurses with relevant paediatric, community or emergency experience will also be considered. What We Offer A temporary contract potentially until December or the return of the incumbent
Consistent hours of 8:00am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
