About the role

Richmond Hill Academy is seeking to recruit an inspirational and committed colleague to the role of Assistant SENDCo to support the leadership and development of our SEND provision. Working closely with the SENDCo, this role is of great importance to our work as an academy and you will play a key role in ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities receive high-quality support and achieve strong academic and personal outcomes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the academy’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and developing SEND provision. You will coordinate interventions, support statutory assessment processes, liaise with parents and external agencies, and help lead and develop our SEND team, particularly within Rainbow Base.

We are a provision which currently caters for the needs of over 50 pupils with complex communication needs and/or autism. We are passionate about providing the best for our pupils and supporting them to become life-long, enthusiastic learners. We are seeking to appoint an individual who can continue to build on the outstanding practice currently in place for our wonderful children.

The successful candidate will also have

the following experience and attributes:

Qualified Teacher Status. A proven track record of achieving academic excellence. A good understanding of SEND legislation and practice Evidence of implementing innovative approaches to learning, particularly in regard to children with ASD.

Experience of meeting the needs of children and young

people who may benefit from specialist provision within a mainstream setting. Knowledge of the EHCP assessment process Resilience, energy and optimism. Knowledge and understanding of the SEMH panel process. Knowledge of the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people.
