SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team at Lift Lea Forest and support an individual pupil with additional needs. About the role

As our SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil, providing consistent and individualised support throughout the school day. Working alongside the class teacher and wider SEND team, you will help adapt and reinforce learning to meet the pupil's individual needs, support their engagement in classroom activities and deliver appropriate interventions where required. A key part of the role will be developing a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil, understanding how they learn and communicate best, and providing the encouragement, structure, and consistency they need to make progress. You will also support their social and emotional development, promote positive interactions with their peers and encourage increasing independence. About you We are looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Ideally, you will: Have experience of supporting children or young people, ideally within a school or SEND setting Have an understanding of SEND and how additional needs can affect a child's learning, communication and development Be able to build a positive and trusting relationship with an individual pupil while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries Be patient, calm and able to adapt your approach to the needs of the child Be confident working closely with teachers, SEND colleagues and other professionals Have good communication and interpersonal skills Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Be enthusiastic about helping a child develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning Above all, we are looking for someone who understands the difference that consistent, high-quality support can make to an individual child.
