About the role

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Act as designated key holder and point of contact in emergencies Maintaining a safe environment with proper lighting, signage, and disability access Updating emergency plans and risk assessments Ensuring building compliance and administrative records Overseeing site security, fire prevention, and other safety systems Scheduling (as well as undertaking) regular building maintenance and servicing Contracting professionals for upkeep and repairs as needed Ensuring all required utilities are in place & monitored Be the Site budget holder and keep costs within budget Arranging for building improvements including tendering contracts Overseeing contractors and inspecting completed jobs Line lead for site assistants, grounds staff Hiring employees or contractors as needed to maintain, repair, or improve the property Providing training for all employees as needed Evaluating employee performance and providing direction, correction, or additional training to ensure proper maintenance of the building Scheduling contractors and employees Resolving complaints, problems, and requests from users Assisting with emergency response, evacuations and supervisory duties as required Undertake daily duties as per Duty rota and cover for absent site staff Hold termly site walks with Operations Manager, checking for any repairs or maintenance required.

Other Duties:

To ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and with due regard to Child Protection and Safeguarding To underttake first aid training and act as a First Aider To partcipate in school educational visits To undertake any training and development for the better fulfilment of the post Act at all times as an ambassador for the school and model behaviour which upholds our Trafalgar values and ethos Foster good relationships with colleagues, students and the wider community Demonstrate a commitment to personal professional development To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example To contribute to the Trafalgar School co-curricular and Trips and Visits programme To promote actively the school’s corporate policies To continue personal development as agreed To comply with the school’s Health and Safety policy and undertake risk assessments as appropriate To undertake any other duty as specified by Headteacher. Supervision and Management The job holder will line lead Site Assistants and Groundskeeper. You may also be required to assist with H&S induction or training of colleagues and new staff.
