Job description

Working hours: Hours - 37 hours per week, Monday Friday, 52 weeks per year 7.00am - 3.30pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am - 3.30pm on Friday (1 hour unpaid break) Alderman Jacobs is a vibrant and popular three form entry school with its own pre-school located in the market town of Whittlesey, just 6 miles from Peterborough. The school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (March 2023) with inspectors reporting that Alderman Jacobs is a welcoming and happy place where pupils enjoy their learning. All aspects of school life reflect the school’s vision of developing ‘energy for life, learning and the environment’ underpinned by values of teamwork, resilience and kindness. The school is a member of the Soke Education Trust and works collaboratively with five primary schools in Peterborough supported by an experienced and growing central team. We are currently looking to recruit a Site Officer on a temporary contract of up to 12 months to cover a period of sickness absence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in maintenance, facilities management, caretaking, estates, or a similar background. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring our school site is a well-maintained, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. The opportunity Ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained at all times Undertake routine maintenance, inspections, minor repairs, and grounds upkeep Open / close the school site, monitor security systems, and respond appropriately to emergencies and site-related issues Manage contractors, deliveries, and the setup of rooms and equipment for school activities, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently Support the Headteacher by maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and other statutory requirements The ideal candidate: Educated to GCSE with a good standard of English and Maths Previous skills and experience within a similar role involving site security, property maintenance and facilities management, ideally within a similar setting Experienced in managing external contactors Knowledge of health and safety legislation including COSHH and fire regulations Good IT skills including email and IT systems Good interpersonal skills Excellent team player Organised and ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines In return we can offer you: A highly supportive, professional working environment with high expectations for each and every child An induction programme that will support you every step of the way An active Staff Wellbeing Group and full access to an Employee Assistance Programme A large, heated outdoor swimming pool which can be used before and after school by staff in the summer months!
