Student Welfare and Medical Support Officer Saint George's Church of England School, Gravesend, Kent Salary: AAT13 - FTE £30,340 per annum (pro-rated to 40 working weeks) Contract: Term Time Plus Additional Weeks (40 weeks per year) Location: Secondary Phase, Saint George's Church of England School, Gravesend, Kent Become a member of our flourishing pastoral team Saint George's Church of England School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Welfare and Medical Support Officer to join our outstanding pastoral team. Working under the leadership of our Assistant Headteacher - Community and Culture , you will become part of a highly effective team that includes our safeguarding professionals and five Community Leaders. This is a rewarding, student-facing role based at our secondary phase, where you will play a vital part in supporting the wellbeing, attendance and welfare of our pupils. Key Responsibilities You will: Provide care and support for a small number of pupils with medical needs across the secondary phase, including those with conditions such as POTS, epilepsy and other identified health needs. Act swiftly and decisively in emergency situations, liaising effectively with parents, carers, healthcare professionals and external agencies. Staff the student reception area before and after school, as well as during break and lunchtime periods. Work closely with the attendance team to support pupils who follow alternative or adapted timetables. Maintain accurate and up-to-date pastoral and welfare records. Undertake home visits for students whose attendance is causing concern. Manage and maintain the secondary phase stock of first aid supplies and resources. The Successful Candidate Will Have experience of working with young people in an educational, pastoral, healthcare or community setting. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be calm, organised and confident when responding to medical or welfare concerns. Have strong administrative skills and attention to detail. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Be able to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external professionals.
