Job description

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Mathematics to join our thriving community at Chatham Grammar. This is a flexible opportunity (0.6-1.0 FTE), with the start date to be agreed with the successful candidate. We are looking for a passionate and well-qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge in Mathematics who can inspire curiosity, confidence and a genuine enjoyment of the subject across Key Stages 3-5. The successful candidate will bring energy, clarity and creativity to their teaching, ensuring students develop both fluency and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. You will be confident in planning and delivering well-structured, engaging lessons, assessing progress effectively, and creating a classroom environment where all students are supported and challenged. Making mathematics meaningful through real-world application and problem-solving will be central to your approach. Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking department, you will contribute to the continued development of high-quality teaching and learning, sharing best practice and engaging in innovative approaches that raise achievement. You will also play an active role in enrichment opportunities such as maths challenges, clubs, competitions and wider STEM activities. We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who are reflective, ambitious and committed to securing the best outcomes for every student. Why Join UKAT? We are committed to supporting the wellbeing, development and success of our staff. As part of our team, you will benefit from: Benenden Healthcare membership. Free access to wellbeing, health and counselling services. Free on-site parking and discounted electric vehicle charging. Access to our on-site gym facilities. Staff Thrive Days in addition to scheduled professional development days. Tailored professional learning pathways and trust-wide career opportunities via the UKAT Institute. Eye care and hearing care vouchers. Free annual flu vaccinations. Relocation packages for eligible candidates. Interest-free loans and travel loans. Excellent transport links, with London and the wider South East within easy reach, or you may benefit from the cycle to work scheme with UKAT. Located in Medway, Kent, Chatham Grammar is a high-performing and inclusive school with a strong academic tradition and ambitious aspirations for every student. We welcome applications from colleagues at all stages of their careers who share our commitment to delivering an exceptional education and enriching opportunities for all learners. The start date for this role is January, however an earlier start date may be considered. UKAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks. We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than an advertised date if we have received applications that meet the criteria. The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online. The selection panel will then explore such items with the candidate during interview. The Trust’s HR Team or another member of staff trained in safer recruitment, will use Google.com to conduct each search and no adverse judgement will be formed for applicants with limited or no online footprint
