About the role

With the upcoming introduction of GCSE Further Maths and Statistics, we are looking to recruit an experienced Maths Teacher. Start date is negotiable. A departmental leadership TLR is available for the right candidate. The Maths department is high achieving, with exceptional progress achieved by students. The role would suit an experienced teacher, and the successful applicant would plan and deliver Maths lessons from Years 9 to 13. We are a successful forward thinking upper school based in a beautiful rural setting in the heart of central Bedfordshire with excellent transport links. We are very lucky to occupy a large site, with lots of green, outside space for our students and staff to enjoy. We offer staff the opportunity to work in a friendly, supportive community with talented, caring and dedicated colleagues. We have implemented a 1pm Friday school finish time to support staff and student well-being. Please see our Staff Wellbeing Charter for our wider approach to staff well-being. What makes Harlington Upper School special is the real sense of community that you can see and sense as you walk around the school. Each individual child is important to us, and our expectation is that all our students will develop and grow as young people as they make their journey as part of our community. The quality of teaching is strong, and our staff are talented, caring and dedicated, and we are very proud of our staff and students. Early applications are welcomed and we reserve the right to interview early should a suitable candidate apply. No CVs or agencies please. Harlington Upper School is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Online checks and reference requests will be completed in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, and prior to interview, and all offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of safer recruitment checks and references including an enhanced DBS check. All posts working with children will be subject to the disclosure of criminal records, and identification documents will be required as evidence of identity and right to work in the UK. It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. The post you are applying for is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are successful at interview you will be required to declare any spent and unspent convictions, adult cautions (simple or conditional) that are not "protected" as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020).
