About the role

Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who is compassionate, adaptable and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of young people. You will be a team player who can communicate sensitively and confidently with students and colleagues. You will also be able to use your own initiative and have strong organisational and time-management skills. We are looking for a fully qualified, enthusiastic and motivational teacher of Geography to join our Geography Department at Furze Platt. We are a highly cohesive and well-resourced department, teaching the WJEC Spec. at KS4 and Edexcel Spec. at KS5. The teaching and learning within the department incorporates many of the synoptic elements of Geography, with students developing a depth and breadth of knowledge to provide a geographical base of understanding for later life. Candidates will have opportunity for future progression within the department. We offer various enrichment and real world learning experiences for our students, including international field trips, local area studies and academic conferences. We are looking for either a full-time or part time to 0.8FTE to start January 2027. A TLR may be available for the right candidate - this may not necessarily be subject based. About Furze Platt Furze Platt is a highly successful and inclusive mixed comprehensive school serving the children of Maidenhead. At Furze Platt, 1500 students of all abilities develop the skills and qualities to enable them to excel in the future. We are an ambitious, high-achieving and fully inclusive school in which our students are challenged and supported to achieve excellence. We are well placed for access, with good transport links to and from London and surrounding counties. Our school is very well resourced and equipped with many new facilities benefiting students and staff. These include a state-of-the-art theatre, gym, fitness suite and a new three-storey teaching block incorporating science laboratories and classrooms. We have rolled out our Laptops for Learning initiative to ensure all students are equipped with a laptop. We want our students to enjoy the time they spend with us by providing an education which is broad, stimulating and rewarding. We encourage all our staff to offer enrichment opportunities with over 50 clubs and societies being offered each term. We are proud of this range of extra-curricular opportunities including Duke of Edinburgh, ski and theatre trips, and historical knowledge and many others. Why join Furze Platt? We want our staff to feel valued, supported and part of our school community. As part of the Furze Platt team, you will benefit from: A friendly and supportive working environment A strong commitment to staff physical and mental wellbeing Discounted membership of our fully equipped, well-maintained on-site gym Career opportunities allowing you to grow professionally within Furze Platt Access to a wellbeing benefit offering video and phone GP consultations, counselling support, physiotherapy and much more - all designed to help support your health and wellbeing Opportunities to get involved in our wider staff community, including social events, after school sports and our Furze Platt fantasy football league Recognition of long service and a culture that values staff contribution We offer a friendly and harmonious campus atmosphere, with a Senior Leadership Team who genuinely want to see you succeed and develop. Furze Platt is the lead school for Teach Maidenhead, a teacher training partnership which offers School Direct teacher training giving staff the opportunity to develop their mentoring skills. ECTs are allocated a mentor, a reduced timetable and the opportunity to attend training sessions run by specialists from within the school. We have free parking on site, and we also ensure that freshly brewed coffee is ready for you during break-time with edible treats to help you through the week! Make a difference with us If you are enthusiastic about supporting young people, and would like to be part of a welcoming and ambitious school community, we would love to hear from you.
