Job description

Monk’s Walk is a high‑performing, oversubscribed secondary school seeking to appoint a Teacher of Girls’ PE to raise standards even further. This position is for a one-year fixed term contract in the first instance to provide maternity cover. Our PE department is highly successful and teaches to both GCSE and A level. Results are very good indeed. Students have many extra-curricular opportunities in PE and a commitment to providing extra-curricular activities is essential. The school offers a supportive, wellbeing‑focused environment , including flexible working options, a 24‑hour Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing INSET days, a staff wellbeing group, and a free annual flu vaccination. If you would like an informal conversation about the role or wish to visit the school before applying, please contact Tim Albone, Assistant Headteacher at TALbone@monkswalk.herts.sch.uk. Tim is the member of SLT with line management responsibility for PE. Applications should be submitted via the My New Term website by noon on Friday 2 October 2026. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications. If you are interested, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will need to obtain references and conduct online searches in advance of interview for any candidate short-listed. All job offers are subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
