Job description

Ashby Fields Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed, flexible and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with Cover Supervisor responsibilities to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and development across the primary age range, while also being confident leading whole-class learning in the absence of the class teacher. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of teaching staff to support pupils in and out of the classroom and will also be expected to deliver pre-planned lessons and manage whole-class learning when providing short-term cover. Key Responsibilities Supporting pupils’ learning and development in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher. Working with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress. Assisting with the preparation of resources and learning materials. Delivering planned lessons and managing classroom behaviour as a Cover Supervisor when required. Promoting positive behaviour and inclusion in line with school policies. Supporting the social, emotional and behavioural needs of pupils. Person Specification We are looking for a candidate who: Has experience of working in a primary school setting (ideally with upper KS2 experience). Holds a relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Has strong literacy and numeracy skills. Is confident in managing a class and delivering planned lessons in the absence of a teacher. Builds positive relationships with children, staff and parents. Demonstrates flexibility, resilience and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
