About the role

Do you love working with children and want to make a difference every day? St Laurence-in-Thanet CE Junior Academy could be the place for you! We are a junior school (Years 3-6) full of enthusiastic learners. Our welcoming, hardworking team are looking for an experienced, motivated and flexible Teaching Assistant to join us and support our pupils in their learning. This role requires someone with recent experience of working within Key Stage 2 who can confidently support pupils and contribute effectively from the outset. We are looking for someone with energy, flexibility, kindness and a good sense of humour - someone who will embrace our ethos, become a valued part of our team and bring their own sparkle to the role.

What we’re looking for:

Recent and relevant experience of working with pupils in Key Stage 2 - this is essential Experience of independently delivering structured interventions to individuals and small groups Strong experience and confidence in delivering phonics interventions - ideally using Read Write Inc. The ability to identify gaps, follow intervention programmes accurately and adapt support in response to pupils’ needs Commitment to high standards of learning, behaviour and safeguarding GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C or equivalent) Strong computer literacy for interventions, assessment and data input

The details:

Class-based role Hours: 8.30-3.30, Monday-Friday, term-time only (including five INSET days) Fixed-term contract: to 31.08.2027

We’d love you to have:

A strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum and the expectations for pupils in Years 3-6 Proven experience of supporting pupils who need additional help to close gaps in learning Experience of delivering and monitoring interventions, with the confidence to provide clear feedback on pupil progress Knowledge or experience of the Thrive Approach (desirable but not essential) Strong literacy and numeracy skills High expectations and a passion for helping children succeed Good communication, time management and flexibility The ability to use initiative and technology effectively

Your role will include:

Supporting pupils in English, Maths and across the KS2 curriculum Planning for and delivering targeted interventions for individuals and small groups, following agreed programmes and approaches Delivering regular phonics and early reading interventions, including Read Write Inc. where appropriate Assessing and recording progress, identifying next steps and feeding back effectively to teachers and the SENCo Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning and develop independence Supporting at break and lunchtimes Contributing to trips, displays and wider school life Why join us?
