Leodis Academies Trust is a successful Multi Academy Trust with five schools in the South Leeds area. As part of our continued growth we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team at Blackgates Primary Academy. We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting children to achieve their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENDCo to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development. You will help to remove barriers to learning, ensuring all children can access the curriculum and thrive within a safe and supportive environment. This role involves providing dedicated support for a pupil with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The pupil is non-verbal and has a range of complex needs, including epilepsy requiring the administration of emergency rescue medication in accordance with agreed medical procedures, visual impairment (registered blind), significant hearing loss, and physical disabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the pupil's learning, communication, personal care, safety, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the school day. Experience of working with children or young people with complex learning, physical, sensory and medical needs would be highly desirable. Whilst the role includes supporting this pupil, it is not an exclusively a one-to-one position. Support is shared across a team to ensure consistency, resilience and continuity of provision. When not providing direct support to the pupil, the successful candidate will work across the school, supporting teaching and learning within classrooms, delivering targeted interventions and working with small groups of pupils. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of many children, helping them to develop their confidence, independence, communication skills and love of learning, whilst contributing to their educational progress, wellbeing and success. We are looking for someone who is positive, enthusiastic and committed to supporting pupils’ learning, and can build caring, professional relationships with children and adults. A good general standard of education, particularly in English and Maths, is required. Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential. Leodis Academies Trust and our individual Academies are committed to ‘Forging Young Futures’. To do this, each Academy has its own ethos and identity and has the freedom to develop individually as well as working collaboratively to secure high quality outcomes for all its young people. By providing an extensive curriculum, both within and beyond the classroom, we cater for the wide range of talent and ability that our students have to offer. We work tirelessly to improve the life chances of all our young people and support them to make a positive contribution to their community. In return for joining us as our Teaching Assistant we can offer
The opportunity to make a real difference to children within our community A supportive, collaborative Trust culture High-quality training and mentoring throughout your apprenticeship Access to an Employee Assistance Programme providing confidential support 24/7 Free on-site parking Access to lifestyle benefits including free flu vaccinations and a cycle to work scheme Opportunities for professional development and progression across the Trust The post offers challenge, reward and role development for the right candidate. The role will be based at Blackgates Primary Academy with opportunities to work with other professionals across the Trust. All posts are subject to pre-employment checks, two references will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check (DBS), medical clearance and provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
