Teaching Assistant - SEND Support Nascot Wood Junior School, Watford Full-time | 32.5 hours per week Nascot Wood Junior School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and wants to play a meaningful role in helping them develop their confidence, independence and learning. The successful candidate will have a varied and rewarding role, providing dedicated support to an individual pupil during the morning and working with a small group of children within our bespoke afternoon provision.
During the morning, you will work closely with a child with additional needs, providing individualised support to help them access learning, develop essential skills and achieve their personal targets. An important feature of this role is the involvement of a specialist advisory teacher, who provides three hours of support each week . This includes direct teaching of the child alongside continuing professional development (CPD), guidance and practical strategies for staff. This offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their knowledge, confidence and expertise in supporting children with complex additional needs. Afternoon - Bespoke SEND Provision During the afternoon, you will become part of the team delivering our bespoke provision for a small group of approximately three to five children with additional needs . Rather than providing individual 1:1 support, you will work flexibly alongside colleagues to support the children across a range of carefully planned activities and learning experiences. Our afternoon provision is designed to meet children's individual needs while promoting communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, independence and personal development. This varied role provides opportunities to develop experience in both individual and small-group SEND support. We are looking for someone who: Has a genuine passion for helping children with additional needs to succeed.

Can provide calm, consistent support and respond sensitively to children's individual needs.
Is flexible, adaptable and enjoys working as part of a team.
Is enthusiastic about learning new approaches and developing their professional skills.
Can work closely with teachers, our SENDCo and specialist professionals to implement agreed strategies.
Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and promoting children's wellbeing.
Previous experience of supporting children with SEND would be an advantage, but we also welcome applications from individuals who have the right personal qualities, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to making a difference. What we can offer A welcoming, friendly and supportive school community.
The opportunity to make a significant difference to the educational experiences and personal development of children with additional needs.
Regular access to a specialist advisory teacher , including professional guidance, training and opportunities to develop specialist SEND skills.
The opportunity to work within our developing bespoke provision, alongside experienced and dedicated colleagues.
A school that values its support staff and recognises the important contribution they make to children's success.
