Job description

Internal Exclusion Room Manager 38.75 hours per week This is an important role within our behaviour and pastoral provision. The successful candidate will provide a calm, purposeful and structured environment where students can reflect on their behaviour while continuing to engage positively with their education. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, the Senior Leadership Team and parents to ensure that students receive appropriate support and that behavioural concerns are addressed promptly and consistently. You will also play an important role in identifying wider pastoral, safeguarding and support needs, monitoring patterns of behaviour and helping to reduce repeat incidents. We are looking for an individual who has previous experience of working in a similar facility within a school environment and who can demonstrate the confidence, resilience and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with students presenting challenging behaviour. You will need to be able to build positive relationships and rapport with students while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. You will also be confident communicating with parents and working collaboratively with teachers. You will be highly organised, able to maintain accurate records and confident in using information and data to identify patterns and support improvements in student behaviour. Most importantly, you will have a calm and consistent approach, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping young people make positive choices and remain engaged with their education. Why join us? This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school-based professional to take a key role in supporting the school's behaviour systems and improving outcomes for students. If you have the experience, resilience and interpersonal skills to manage an Internal Exclusion Room effectively, while maintaining high expectations and providing appropriate support to students, we would be delighted to hear from you. Further information can be found in the detailed job description and person specification below. Tours of the school are welcome. What To Know Before Applying: Generous Local Government Pension Scheme. Holiday pay included in all salaries. We reserve the right to interview as suitable applications are received. The Westgate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All staff are expected to be aware of and follow the 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' advice and guidance. Only applicants who have been shortlisted for interview will be contacted. The Westgate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake child protection screening, including an Enhanced DBS check, Children's Barred List check, online and past employer checks. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. We are an equal opportunities employer under the provision of the Equality Act 2010. The school reserves the right to withdraw this vacancy should the anticipated staffing vacancy not arise.
