Art Technician

This role is much more than managing supplies, it is about supporting a living, breathing creative space where experimentation and refining ideas are part of the artistic process. While ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department, you will have the opportunity to share your technical expertise directly with students and teachers, bringing fresh creative energy into the classroom. Key responsibilities include: Providing technical assistance in the classroom, demonstrating practical making techniques across mediums such as fine art, printmaking or digital media and helping students troubleshoot their work. Taking the lead in transforming school spaces into galleries, creating eye-catching displays and public exhibitions that celebrate the students’ journey from blank canvas to a finished masterpiece. Maintaining well-organised preparation rooms, managing stock, materials and equipment and ensuring classrooms are fully equipped and ready for learning. Undertaking first line inspection of machines and workshop tools, upholding safe workshop procedures across the department. Who we are looking for: Proficient to A-Level standard in Art (or equivalent), with applications warmly welcomed from candidates qualified to degree level in a creative discipline. Practical skills and experience with the tools, machines and materials found in an art workshop environment. An enthusiastic, communicative team player with an eye for aesthetic detail who loves sharing their passion for art with others. An organised and adaptable individual who can build positive relationships with students and colleagues, working constructively as part of a team.
