Job description

Due to the current placeholder relocating, we are seeking a talented and inspirational Assistant Head Teacher to lead the English Department, someone who is passionate, dedicated to designing a curriculum to further our students’ lifelong journey of curiosity, and to mentor our high performing team of teachers. You will play a significant role in shaping the department to ensure literature and language flourish at every stage of our students lives. As Head Teacher for English, you will: Progress the English department to even greater successes Lead and mentor your team, enhancing their teaching practice with innovative methods and ensuring they have a clear vision Promote the understanding and belief that every student can be successful Oversee and shape the curriculum’s delivery Manage the allocation of resources and budgets Collaborate with other heads of departments to achieve a consistent approach for all Support the Academy Leadership Team to meet development plan priorities The Bishop of Winchester Academy is a thriving Church of England school, recently recognised by Ofsted as prioritising ‘wider opportunities alongside achievement so that pupils “live life to the full.” ’ (Ofsted 2023) Our shared mission to improve the life chances of all our students is at the very centre of our work.
