Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant, MTA and Pastoral Support Temporary post to cover a staff absence - 33.75 hrs per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.45pm Paid at NJC Grade A for MTA duty £12.85ph and Grade D for HLTA hours @ £13.90ph To commence as soon as possible September 2026 This post will involve: Cover teachers’ timetabled release time each week across the school, from Reception to Year 6. Provide general support for pupils’ learning under the direction of the class teacher. Cover classes, when required, due to staff training and occasional staff absence. Plan, deliver and evaluate targeted interventions to support pupils’ pastoral needs and academic progress. Work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to identify and support individual pupil needs. Provide support for pupils experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation. Use nurturing and restorative approaches to help pupils manage challenges, develop positive strategies and succeed in school. Supervising pupils during lunchtime as part of the MTA duty on a daily basis. We are looking for someone with a strong, sensitive and caring approach to children’s needs, who is able to be an effective communicator and think creatively. You will need to show a high degree of initiative and be solution focussed. It would also be beneficial to have experience of working with children with complex needs. You will need to show initiative, creativity and demonstrate the aptitude to work as part of a successful and growing team to improve the life chances of our pupils and make every child feel special.
