About the role

About us:

Doubletrees School is part of the Special Partnership Trust, a specialist educational trust committed to raising standards for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We place our learners at the heart of everything we do, providing an ambitious and inclusive curriculum that supports learning, independence, resilience and preparation for life beyond school. Our dedicated team works collaboratively to ensure every learner receives high-quality education, care and support in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. We are ambitious, aspirational and purposeful, and we are looking for colleagues who share our commitment to improving the lives and experiences of our learners.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Doubletrees School. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will contribute to the planning, delivery and assessment of high-quality learning experiences that meet the individual needs of our pupils. You will support learners to develop their knowledge, skills, confidence and independence, while promoting their welfare, inclusion and engagement in all aspects of school life. The role will also involve leading learning activities and teaching whole classes within an agreed framework, including during the short-term absence of a teacher. You will use your experience, initiative and specialist skills to support pupil progress, contribute to a positive learning environment and provide guidance to other members of the support team.

Key Responsibilities

Support the planning, delivery and assessment of lessons, adapting activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs. Teach whole classes within an agreed system of supervision and lesson framework, including during the short-term absence of teachers. Promote pupils’ progress, independence, confidence, social development and inclusion. Monitor and assess pupils’ responses to learning, providing detailed and constructive feedback to teachers. Use effective behaviour-support strategies to maintain a safe, purposeful and positive learning environment. Organise and safely manage learning environments, activities and resources. Lead and effectively deploy Teaching Assistants and volunteers when delivering whole-class learning. Contribute to meetings with parents, carers and other professionals, providing appropriate feedback on pupil progress and development. Support pupils’ physical, medical, emotional and personal-care needs, following relevant training, risk assessments and school procedures. Contribute to off-site activities and educational visits, including the completion and implementation of appropriate risk assessments. Use school systems effectively to record, assess and report on pupil progress. Uphold safeguarding requirements and follow all Trust and school policies, procedures and professional standards. Contribute positively to the wider school and Trust community and take responsibility for ongoing professional development.
