About the role

Role: School Support Assistant - Food Preparation & Nutrition Salary: Bucks Pay Range 1-2 ISN 6-15 (depending on experience) £24,836-£28,742 pro rata, actual salary £18,627-£21,556 per annum Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only (39 Weeks) Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (Monday-Thursday 8.30am-4.30pm Friday 8.30-4.00pm) Start Date: November 2026 Are you passionate about food, nutrition and helping young people develop essential life skills? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Support Assistant to join our supportive team at Alfriston School. Working closely with the Food Preparation & Nutrition Department, you will support students both in the classroom and during practical cooking sessions, helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will assist with lesson preparation, maintain food hygiene and health and safety standards, support students with a range of learning needs, and encourage confidence and independence in developing practical life skills. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, has a keen interest in food, nutrition and wellbeing, and is committed to helping every student achieve their potential.

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people (desirable). Is organised, proactive and able to work as part of a team. Has an interest in food preparation, nutrition and healthy living. Demonstrates patience, enthusiasm and a commitment to inclusive education. Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
