About the role

The Outreach Team is an integral part of Dacorum Education Support Centre, a Pupil Referral Unit operating across two sites in Hemel Hempstead. Our Outreach Team work in partnership with 67 mainstream schools across Dacorum, to support learners experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. We deliver early intervention support across primary and secondary schools, helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement, and achieve positive outcomes. Our work focuses on preventing suspensions and permanent exclusions, enabling learners to remain successful within their mainstream school settings. As an Outreach Practitioner, you will manage your own caseload and work directly within schools, building strong relationships with learners, families and school staff. You will have the autonomy to assess needs, deliver targeted interventions and contribute to meaningful change for children who need support at a critical point in their education. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, resilient and solution-focused professional who thrives on working independently whilst being part of a highly supportive and experienced team. No two days are the same. Whether you are delivering one-to-one interventions, supporting a school with behaviour strategies or collaborating with multi-agency partners, your work will have a direct and lasting impact on young people's lives. Why Join Us? Make a genuine difference to vulnerable children and young people.

Work autonomously whilst being supported by an experienced outreach team.

Build strong partnerships with schools across Dacorum.

Deliver meaningful interventions that promote inclusion and positive behaviour.

Access ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Be part of a respected Local Authority-funded service with a strong reputation among schools.

Enjoy a term-time working pattern that supports work-life balance.

Who We Are Looking For We are seeking an individual who is passionate about helping children and young people succeed, can quickly establish positive professional relationships, and is confident working independently within a variety of school environments. You will be adaptable, organised and able to manage competing priorities whilst maintaining high professional standards. If you are committed to inclusion, believe in the potential of every child, and want to be part of a service that helps schools keep young people engaged in education, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please note, as this role requires travel across Dacorum, a driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential.

We encourage early applications and reserve the right to interview and appoint candidates before the closing date. Suitable applicants may therefore be contacted for interview as applications are received.
