About the role

Are you interested in science and looking for an opportunity to develop new skills and build a career in a school laboratory? Bishop Wordsworth’s School is seeking an enthusiastic, practical and reliable Laboratory Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in science who is keen to learn and develop their skills. Previous laboratory experience or specialist scientific qualifications are not essential, as full training and support will be provided. Working alongside our experienced Science Technician team, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in a busy school laboratory, learning how to prepare practical experiments, maintain equipment and support the delivery of science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Importantly, this role offers the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to progress into a Science Technician role, with structured on-the-job training, mentoring and opportunities for further professional development.

What We Are Looking For:

A genuine interest in science and a willingness to learn.

A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.

Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions.

A reliable, positive and flexible attitude.

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

What We Offer:

Full training and support, with no previous laboratory experience required.

Opportunities to develop the technical skills and knowledge required of a Science Technician.

Mentoring and guidance from experienced Science Technicians.

Term-time working, ideal for work-life balance.

A supportive and welcoming team environment.

Local Government Pension Scheme.

Cycle to Work scheme.

Access to onsite sports facilities and gym.
