Job description

Are you an organised and enthusiastic science professional looking to make a real difference in education? We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to join our successful secondary academy and lead the technical support provision within our Science Department. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will prepare practical resources, maintain equipment, oversee chemical storage and laboratory safety, manage stock and budgets, and support the delivery of outstanding science lessons. You will also play a key role in leading and developing the technician team Key Responsibilities: Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons and examinations. Maintain laboratories, preparation rooms, equipment and resources to a high standard. Manage chemical storage and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain accurate stock records, inventories and order resources as required. Research, trial and introduce new equipment and practical activities. Support teachers and students during practical activities and investigations. Line manage, train and support science technician staff. Assist with departmental budgets, displays, open evenings and academy events. Successful candidates should have: A good general education, including A Level Science (or equivalent) . Laboratory experience and a good understanding of chemicals and their properties. Excellent organisational, ICT and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently, solve problems and lead a team effectively.
