Student Support Worker

FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 1 YEAR We are seeking a creative, motivated and proactive Academic Support Worker to play a key role in raising standards across the school. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a background or strong skills in Art, Photography or another creative subject, who also has the literacy and confidence to support students across Humanities This is a dynamic, student-facing role focused on supporting identified pupils to improve their engagement, confidence and academic progress. You will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to help students access learning, stay focused and develop the skills they need to succeed. A key aspect of the role is providing targeted academic support that keeps students engaged and on task, helping to reduce barriers to learning and promoting positive classroom behaviour through consistent guidance, encouragement and positive relationships. This role would suit someone who is creative, enthusiastic and passionate about working with young people. You may be an experienced Teaching Assistant, a Graduate, an Artist or Photographer, or someone looking to develop a career working in education. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who can bring creativity, enthusiasm and strong interpersonal skills to the role. You will ideally have: A strong interest, qualification or experience in Art, Photography or another creative discipline. Good literacy skills and the confidence to support students with reading, writing, research and communication. The ability to support learning in subjects such as History, Religious Education and Geography. Experience of working with young people, ideally in a school or similar setting. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships quickly. Confidence in supporting student learning, engagement and independent working. The ability to motivate students and help them remain focused and on task. A creative and flexible approach to engaging students who may find traditional learning challenging. A proactive approach, with the ability to work across different subjects and contexts. A commitment to inclusion and supporting all students to succeed academically and personally. You do not need to be a qualified teacher for this role. We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring a strong creative skill set alongside the ability to communicate effectively and support students' academic development.
