About the role

Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages Penrice Academy | Cornwall Education Learning Trust Are you an enthusiastic and inspiring Modern Foreign Languages teacher looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? Join Penrice Academy and become part of a forward-thinking department where language learning opens doors to new cultures, experiences and future opportunities. At Penrice, we offer something truly distinctive. Since September 2022, we have been the only school in Cornwall to offer the Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) — providing an exciting opportunity for our students to develop their Mandarin alongside a traditional modern foreign language. The five-year, fully funded programme is an ambitious and accelerated course designed to develop students towards fluency. Students receive up to four hours of classroom teaching alongside independent study, and those taking part also continue to study Spanish at Penrice. The programme gives our students the opportunity to develop not only their linguistic ability, but also their cultural understanding, confidence and skills for an increasingly global world. For the right candidate, this is an exciting opportunity to work within a school that is embracing ambitious language provision and expanding students' horizons beyond the traditional curriculum . Whether you are an experienced MFL teacher or an early-career teacher looking to develop your practice, you will be joining a team committed to high expectations, excellent teaching and creating meaningful opportunities for young people. With Mandarin spoken by more than a billion people worldwide and increasingly valuable across global business, technology and international careers, our MEP provision gives students a unique opportunity to develop a skill that can benefit them well beyond their time at school. Why Penrice? The only school in Cornwall offering the Mandarin Excellence Programme .

An ambitious five-year programme designed to support students towards fluency.

Opportunities to teach and inspire students through both language and cultural learning.

A commitment to broadening students' aspirations and preparing them for a global future.

A vibrant MFL curriculum combining traditional language learning with an innovative Mandarin programme.

The opportunity to be part of a school that is investing in ambitious and distinctive language provision.

Could you inspire the next generation of linguists and help our students discover the opportunities that come with learning a new language? We would love to hear from you.
