About the role

TEACHING ASSISTANT - SEND - PRIMARY (Fixed Term Contract) JOB TITLE: Teaching Assistant - SEND (Primary) BASED AT: Castle Newnham SALARY/GRADE: NJC Scale 2A Point 3-4 (£12.85 - £13.05p/hr) - 31.67 hours per week plus 5 INSET days. RESPONSIBLE TO: SENDCo The formative years of BEST have been a real success story - and we are looking forward to an exciting future, too. The Bedfordshire Schools Trust (BEST) is a multi-academy trust providing exceptional education across our community of 11 schools and five nurseries. Since forming in 2016, we have grown significantly into one of the largest trusts in the county. We now educate 8,000 children across the area, from nursery age to advanced level study, and have over 1,000 members of staff. It is our aim to grow the BEST in everyone, and everything we do is driven by our values. Castle Newnham are currently looking to recruit a part time teaching assistant (SEND) in our primary phase. We are looking preferably for someone with experience of a similar role within the education system and/or the personal skills and resilience to develop in the role to support our primary pupils. The role is to work in classroom settings to identify and develop strategies to support pupils in overcoming barriers to their learning. Working alongside teaching staff and existing pastoral systems you will provide an extra layer of support for pupils in the school. You may also be asked to deliver programmes of support for literacy or numeracy to small groups of pupils. The post would provide excellent experience for a person wishing to move on to a career in teaching.
