Teaching Assistant

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, has a positive and supportive approach, and is passionate about helping pupils to learn and develop. Working under the direction of class teachers, you will support individuals and small groups, helping pupils to understand and complete learning tasks, develop their confidence and participate positively in the classroom. You will carry out planned and pre-determined learning activities under the direction of the teacher, providing encouragement and appropriate support to help pupils remain focused and achieve the tasks set. You will also contribute to promoting positive behaviour, build supportive relationships with pupils and help children who may need additional support to participate fully in school life. You will work as part of a supportive team, helping to prepare learning resources, observe pupils’ progress, undertake basic record keeping as required and provide feedback to teachers. You will also help to maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment and uphold the school’s commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of every child. These responsibilities reflect the attached Level 1 role, including supporting pre-determined learning activities, inclusion, positive behaviour and the wider life of the school. The role also includes supporting the supervision of children during the lunchtime period.
