About the role

Hazelbury Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, inspirational and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. We are a forward-thinking school with passionate, dedicated staff and excellent facilities that inspire teaching and learning. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, enjoys learning and achieves their full potential. As an HLTA, you will work closely with class teachers to support high-quality teaching and learning, including in our early years setting. You will work with whole classes, small groups and individual pupils, helping to ensure that all children make progress and develop a love of learning. An important part of the role will be covering lessons, delivering planned learning activities and maintaining a positive, purposeful learning environment in the absence of the class teacher. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of teaching and learning in a primary setting and a genuine passion for helping children succeed. You will be adaptable, flexible and well organised, with the confidence to work independently and as part of a team. You will have high expectations of children's learning and behaviour, alongside the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families. You will also be committed to inclusion and able to adapt your approach to meet the diverse needs of our pupils. Hazelbury offers a wealth of opportunities to enrich children's learning beyond the classroom. Our extensive outdoor facilities include a school farm, edible playground, pond and orchard, all of which support learning across the curriculum and provide exceptional opportunities for outdoor learning and enrichment, including Forest School. We believe that looking after our staff is essential to creating the best possible learning environment for our children. Staff wellbeing is a priority, and we actively promote a healthy work-life balance. Our staff benefits include a MacBook for teaching staff, including HLTAs, to support their work, wellbeing days, an attendance reward scheme, a staff gym, an on-site staff Daycare, access to a mental wellbeing support hub, and ample on-site parking. As part of Connect Education Trust, we are strongly committed to high-quality professional development and career progression for all staff. We continually review our practice and work collaboratively to ensure that our staff can focus on what matters most: providing a rich, inclusive environment in which children can learn, flourish and thrive. You will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues at Hazelbury, across the Trust and within the wider educational community, developing your skills and contributing to the continued success of our school. If you are passionate about primary education, enjoy working with children and want to be part of a supportive, ambitious team, we would love to hear from you. With easy access into central London, our school is ideal for candidates wanting to live in either inner or outer London. In line with recent legislation, applicants must have a command of spoken English that is sufficient to effectively carry out duties of the role. We welcome all visits to the school- please contact the school office on 020 8807 3140 or email office@hazelburyprimary.org to arrange this. All Connect Education Trust is committed to safeguarding, therefore all employees working within the Trust must have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of our children and young people. All candidates are required to complete the school’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ declaration and will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). For posts in regulated activity, this will include a barred list check. The Trust also requires consent from applicants to carry out online searches of publicly available information, including social media, prior to interview. The Trust and its schools are committed to ensuring that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment or is disadvantaged on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status or race, and we welcome applications from all sections of society. We encourage applications from people from all backgrounds and aim to have a workforce that represents the wider society that we serve. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice. We champion diversity, inclusion and well-being and aim to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and a sense of belonging.
