Job description

Support pupils with SEND on a one-to-one basis or in small groups To keep relevant and informative records of progress made in line with the school’s record keeping policy. Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills. Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs. Encourage positive behaviour and promote inclusion within the classroom. Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs. Support pupils with personal care or medical needs where required. Assist with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe learning environment. Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals. Promote safeguarding and follow school policies and procedures at all times. To carry out specific duties related to the needs of the child e.g. child in a wheelchair needing to be taken to the toilet / to support the child at playtimes if social skills and forming friendships are a problem. Be willing to participate in programmes or activities which are beneficial for their child e.g. motor skills, speech and language To prepare materials as required Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school. Appreciate and support the role of other professionals. Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
