About the role

We are seeking a dedicated part time Teaching Assistant to provide support throughout the week for a child in Key Stage 1 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 12:30pm. The role will include supporting the child during classroom learning as well as during playtimes, with part of the working day dedicated to encouraging positive friendships, social interaction, communication and the development of social skills. This is a part-time position linked specifically to the individual child and the funding provided to support their EHCP. The position will therefore remain in place for as long as the associated funding and support requirement continues. The role will primarily involve delivering 1:1 support, alongside facilitating small-group learning where appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement strategies that support the child's communication, speech and language development, social skills and engagement with learning. We are looking for someone who is caring, patient and adaptable, with a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs. The successful candidate will have previous experience working in a school or childcare setting, with experience of supporting children with SEND being particularly desirable. Knowledge or experience of areas such as phonics, speech and language development, sensory needs, fine motor development and other interventions would also be advantageous. However, we recognise that candidates may not have experience in all of these areas, and ongoing CPD, training and support will be provided to develop your knowledge and skills. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is nurturing, enthusiastic and willing to learn, with the ability to build positive relationships and adapt their approach to meet the individual needs of the child. If you have any questions and would like to discuss the role please contact us via the details below. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
