About the role

Join York High School’s Inclusion Team and make a direct impact on our students' learning journey. This is an opportunity for a skilled individual to work as a Teaching Assistant in a key post that contributes directly to the care of young people at the school. Your role will be focused upon supporting struggling readers through targeted interventions, which will in turn remove barriers allowing them to unlock the curriculum. This highly rewarding role will include both working with individual students as well as small groups. You will have GCSE English and maths qualifications at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications, and experience of working with children or young people. You will have good communication skills with the ability to build appropriate relationships with a range of staff, students and their families. A level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning and/or further qualifications are desirable. In return, we can offer a supportive working environment, with colleagues who care deeply, are experts in their fields and who are passionate about what they do. We also offer a range of staff benefits, and further details regarding our benefits and information about our Trust can be found here. The trust will be undertaking a job evaluation exercise in the near future and, therefore, the grade for this position may change. We would strongly encourage any prospective candidate to visit the school. Please email Dawn Becton, PA to Principal and Office Manager, at d.becton@yorkhigh.elt.org.uk if you would like to arrange a visit. Further details about our school are available on our school website: www.yorkhighschool.co.uk
