About the role

We are looking for Midday Welfare Assistants to join our friendly team’s at Polden Bower School based in Bower Lane, Albert Street and within our Satellite provision at Somerset Bridge Primary School. Working term time only Monday to Friday 11.00 am - 2.00 pm each day - 15 hours per week plus Inset days. Polden Bower School is part of the Bower Learning Partnership and has two main sites located in Bridgwater, Bower Lane and Albert Street. We also have a satellite provision within Somerset Bridge Primary School. It’s a fantastic place to work with state-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people, this includes a warm water pool for physiotherapy; a sports hall; a sensory room; and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. The Bower Learning Partnership is a Federation of 2 special schools; Polden Bower School in Bridgwater, Avalon School in Street. The partnership works closely with the Pupil Referral Units in Somerset as part of its leadership work. Being part of a partnership, provides opportunities for staff to gain wider professional learning opportunities. This is a Grade 16 post. Approximate annual gross salary £9,9768, monthly £814. Our students have a wide range of learning needs. We offer a personalised curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and interventions.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervising and assist students with their midday meal Attending to pupils’ personal care needs Supporting children’s play during lunchtime encouraging constructive and imaginative play. Helping to clear the hall and classroom keeping them clean and tidy Support in the classroom where needed around the lunchtime period Willingness to undertake training to support their role and an understanding of the requirements to attend safeguarding sessions
