We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Worker to join our team. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils by providing targeted support that promotes wellbeing, engagement, positive behaviour, and academic success. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities:

Provide dedicated pastoral and educational support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes. Build positive, therapeutic relationships with pupils, promoting resilience, emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour. Develop, implement, and monitor individual support plans, behaviour strategies, interventions, and risk assessments in collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies. Work closely with parents, carers, teachers, and specialist professionals to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to supporting pupil development and achievement. Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils, maintaining accurate records, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with academy policies and procedures.

Pay range: NJC SCP 16 - 20 £27,727.10 - £29,616.32 - 37 hours a week and 39 weeks a year. FTE: NJC SCL 16 - 20 £31,525.00 - £33,673.00 - 37 hours a week and 52 weeks a year.

Qualifications and Skills:

5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above. Experience supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, SEND, or other barriers to learning. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish positive, therapeutic relationships with pupils, families, and professionals. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures, alongside excellent resilience, organisation, and behaviour management skills to support pupils' wellbeing and engagement in learning.
