About the role

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and ensuring every student feels supported, included and able to succeed? SGS Forest High is looking for a Pastoral Support Leader (Behaviour and Inclusion) to join our Inclusion Team and play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding and student wellbeing across the school. What you'll do Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher Inclusion and Head of Pastoral to provide high-quality pastoral and behavioural support for students.

Co-lead the school's Alternative Provision, creating a calm, structured and purposeful environment that supports successful learning and reintegration into mainstream education.

Coordinate and oversee the school's detention system, ensuring processes are consistent, fair and effective.

Monitor behaviour data, identify emerging trends and use this information to help shape targeted interventions.

Build strong partnerships with Heads of Year, teachers, tutors, the SEND team, families and external agencies to support students' individual needs.

Deliver mentoring and intervention programmes that help students develop confidence, resilience, positive behaviours and engagement with learning.

Support the school's safeguarding provision as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).

Act as Young Carers Lead, ensuring students with caring responsibilities receive the support they need to thrive.

Who you are An experienced pastoral practitioner who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people.

Skilled at building positive, professional relationships with students, families, colleagues and external partners.

Compassionate, approachable and resilient, with the ability to maintain high expectations and clear boundaries.

Confident supporting students who may face challenges relating to behaviour, attendance, wellbeing or engagement.

Able to use data, professional judgement and a solution-focused approach to identify needs and coordinate effective interventions.

Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and ensuring every student feels valued, supported and able to succeed.

An excellent communicator who remains calm, organised and effective in a busy school environment.
