Salary Range: MPS/UPS+SEN Allowance+TLR2a

Location: ​Brays School, Brays Rd, Birmingham, B26 1NS​

Contract: Full time and Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Class Teacher with a TLR for Literacy Lead to join Brays School. The post holder will provide strategic leadership for Reading, Writing and Phonics, ensuring that all pupils have access to an ambitious, engaging and inclusive literacy curriculum that develops reading, communication and writing skills across all areas of learning. The Literacy Lead will champion a culture where reading is valued, writing is purposeful and pupils are supported to become confident communicators. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of School and Teaching and Learning Assistant Headteacher to ensure that school practice reflects evidence-informed approaches, trust priorities and developments in literacy education. Brays School is a special day school. We offer places for children with physical difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, visual impairment, hearing impairment, multisensory impairment and complex medical needs. Brays is proud to retain its Outstanding status under the latest Ofsted inspection. Key Leadership Expectations:

The Literacy Lead will:

Champion excellent literacy outcomes for all pupils. Model the school's values through compassionate, ethical and collaborative leadership. Inspire and support colleagues to develop their practice. Build strong relationships with staff, pupils, families and external partners. Work with the School Curriculum lead to continually strengthen reading and writing provision across the school. Maintain a relentless focus on improving outcomes in Reading, Writing and Phonics for all learners.

The successful candidate will:

Take specific responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management and organisation of English & Communication across the school. Lead, manage and model good practice. Lead, manage and share the vision for your TLR area and ensure subjects expectations are being adhered to through regular monitoring. Always assist in the smooth running of the school, including being responsible with the other TLR holders for the school in the absence of the Headteacher, Deputy and Assistant Headteacher. Be an outstanding practitioner with a passion for learning Have excellent knowledge of the primary curriculum, including assessment Be a team player
